Choral Ensembles
THINK SPRING! All our choral groups are hard at work preparing music for our Spring Choral Night on May 20th! This year’s Choral Night will include all the singers from 8th-12th grade singing The October Project’s “Turn” and Bill Withers’ hit “Lovely Day.” Some of the music for the spring concert was chosen by students through our “Song Choice Project” in January & February. We’ll also honor our graduating seniors on this special night.
MICCA FESTIVAL: The honors groups at WMHS will be performing at the adjudicated Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Festival at the end of March. On Friday, March 27, at North Andover High School, Chamber Singers will perform at 6:50 PM and Treble Choir will perform at 8:10 PM. Both groups are working hard on challenging festival literature. Along with the Wind Ensemble, they will be performing a MICCA Preview Concert on Thursday, March 19, at 7 PM, at the GMS Auditorium. This concert is free and open to the public!
FESTIVAL NEWS: WMHS had a great day at Northeast District Junior Festival Auditions at the end of January. Jacki Adams, Micaela Olivieri, EJ Savage, and Ryvir Wagner will sing in the SATB Chorus and Fiona Burd, Abby Gregorovic, and Sophie Powers will sing in the SSA Chorus. The festival takes place at Galvin Middle School on March 11, 13, and 14!
A Cappella Groups
Voices of Steel is gearing up for several performances in March, inducing the ICHSA Semifinal competition at the University of Hartford and the 4th Grade All-Town Chorus Concert, one of our favorite performances of the year. We’re also extremely excited to announce that our Spring A Cappella Night will feature the amazing vocal band Musae, along with WMHS groups Voices of Steel and Mic Drop, and special guests the GMS Chamber Chorus! Friday, April 10, 2026, 7:00 PM!! Students in Voices of Steel and Mic Drop will be selling tickets during the month of March.

Student Perspective
Please enjoy this note from one of our students, senior McKayla Herzog!!
My name is McKayla Herzog and I am one of the two Co-Presidents of Chamber Singers, as well as the Soprano Section Leader for the group, and a member of Voices of Steel. The month of February may have seemed like a quiet one for the music department, but behind the scenes we have been preparing for what’s next! We spent this month solidifying our MICCA music for our upcoming trip to the Westminster Choir College Choral Invitational. I have seen so much progress with this music and I know that growth will continue. Additionally, we created our Song Choice Projects to help pick a fun song for each group to sing at the Spring Concert. As for A Cappella, at the end of January Voices of Steel competed at ICHSA Quarterfinals held at the Galvin, and we came in second, moving us on to Semi-Finals! Not only that but our very own senior, Serena Loh, won an award for her amazing choreography. We have spent much of the month of February preparing and improving our set for the upcoming Semi-Finals in March, as well as looking into new gig songs for the spring. This month was a lot of preparation, but we have so much to look forward to and we can’t wait for everything to come in March!
