Chicago Teen Edition

MANY of our singers are taking part in WMHS Theater’s Production of “Chicago Teen Edition.” Some of them are even playing in the pit! We hope that you are able to join us this weekend for one of our performances of Chicago: Teen Edition. Tickets are going fast! You can purchase tickets at www.wakefieldtheater.org or at the door if any tickets remain. This may be our last performance at the Savings Bank Theater!

Choral Ensembles

GOLD MEDAL SHOWCASE! For the second year in a row, Treble Choir was able to perform at the Gold Medal Showcase at the beautiful Groton Hill Music Center on April 12. It was a thrill to perform in such a beautiful space, and we were lucky to have about 100 singers from North Andover in the audience cheering us on! Congratulations to all the singers and thank you to the parents who helped as chaperones!

VPAD! Right before vacation, we spent an exhilarating two days celebrating the Visual and Performing Arts in the Wakefield Public Schools. Chamber Singers, Treble Choir, and Voices of Steel, along with Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, String Ensemble, and Marching Band got to put on six different shows over the course of two days for over 2,000 K-8 students.

CHORAL NIGHT! Mark your calendars for our Annual Choral Night Concert - May 20!! This year, our Choral Night will feature 150 singers grades 8-12, with performances by all the GMS 8th Grade Chorus and all the vocal groups in the WMHS Choral Department! All singers must attend the mandatory dress rehearsal on May 19, at GMS, from 2:30-5:30. After the concert, we’ll prepare for end of the year ceremonies, complete Post-Concert Self-Assessments, and then we’ll begin working on Final Exam Performances!

WMHS CEREMONIES! Both Treble Choir and Chamber Singers will perform at the WMHS in-school Memorial Day Ceremony on May 22 and at the WMHS Class of 2026 Graduation on June 7. We are thrilled to take part in these special ceremonies for our school community.

A Cappella Groups

We had a hugely successful 14th Annual A Cappella Night, full of amazing performances and collaboration with our incredible guest group, Musae! Thanks to everyone who attended the show and congratulations to all the performers!

Auditions for Voices of Steel are coming up on May 4! And sign ups are open for the MS Summer A Cappella Workshop! Lastly, we are excited to announce the Theater/A Cappella Banquet at the Crystal Community Club on May 13. Sign up here by May 6!

Student Perspective

This month in the WMHS choral department has been busy and really exciting. Earlier this month we had our Spring A Cappella Night on April 10th, where Mic Drop and Voices of Steel performed alongside the headlining group Musae with special guests GMS Chamber Chorus. It was such a fun night and a great chance for both groups to share the music they have been working so hard on. Later in the month we participated in Wakefield Visual & Performing Arts Day, where we performed for elementary and middle school students. It was so much fun getting to share our music with younger students and see how excited they were, and it was really special to help spread our music throughout the community. Looking ahead, Choral Night is coming up on May 20th, and Treble Choir, Chamber Singers, and Chorale are all working hard and learning really fun new music that we are all super excited to perform. WMHS Theater is also performing Chicago: Teen Edition tonight, Saturday, and Sunday, and many members of the choral department are involved and are so excited to perform, so don’t miss it!
