MICCA SUCCESS! Both Chamber Singers and Treble Choir had outstanding performances at the Massachusetts Instrumental & Choral Conductors Association Festival this year. This was their first adjudicated performance since 2018. They performed for judges at North Andover High School on April 4, and both groups received GOLD medals, which included an invitation to perform at the Gold Medal Showcase at the Groton Hill Music Center the following weekend. It was a thrill to perform in such a beautiful space, and the students worked extremely hard to get there! Congratulations to all the singers and thank you to the parents who helped as chaperones!

VPAD! Right before vacation, we spent an exhilarating two days celebrating the Visual and Performing Arts in the Wakefield Public Schools. Chamber Singers, Treble Choir, and Voices of Steel, along with Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, String Ensemble, and Marching Band got to put on six different shows over the course of two days for over 2,000 K-8 students.

CHORAL NIGHT! Mark your calendars for our Annual Choral Night Concert - May 21, 2021! This year, our Choral Night will feature 170 singers from 8th through 12th grade, with performances by all the GMS 8th Grade Chorus and all the vocal groups in the WMHS Choral Department! All singers must attend the mandatory dress rehearsal on May 20, at GMS, from 2:30-5:30. After the concert, we’ll be spending time on Post-Concert Self-Assessments, then we’ll begin working on Final Exam Performances!
WMHS CEREMONIES! Both Treble Choir and Chamber Singers will perform at the WMHS in-school Memorial Day Ceremony on May 23 and at the WMHS Class of 2025 Graduation on June 7. We are thrilled to take part in these special ceremonies for our school community.
A Cappella Groups
We had a hugely successful 13th Annual A Cappella Night, full of amazing performances and collaboration with our incredible guest group, Backtrack Vocals! Thanks to everyone who attended the show and congratulations to all the performers!

On April 16, at the Wakefield Educational Foundation’s Celebration of Learning event, Voices of Steel was honored to receive the Community Award. Thank you to WEF for all you do for our school community!

Don’t miss it - many members of both Voices of Steel and Mic Drop are involved either on or backstage in our spring musical, Hadestown!
Lastly, we are excited to announce the Theater/A Cappella Banquet at the Crystal Community Club on May 14.
Student Perspective
Please enjoy this note from one of our students, sophomore Carina Cataldo!
Hello, I'm Carina Cataldo, and I'm a sophomore at WMHS! In the choral department the Co-Manager and a member of Voices of Steel as well as a member of the Treble Choir and the Theater Arts Department.
April has been a very exciting and eventful month for all of the Music Department!! Our Treble Choir and Chamber Singers performed at North Andover High School for MICCA adjudication on April 4th. Both of our groups won gold and were given the opportunity to sing at the Gold Medal Showcase, on the 13th, at Groton Hill Music Center.
On April 11th, we hosted our Spring A Cappella Night, where Galvin Chamber Chorus, Mic Drop, Voices of Steel performed, and the amazing Backtrack Vocals!! Also, on the 16th and 17th, the high school students got to perform and showcase their talents to all other Wakefield schools during VPAD! The younger students got to see and hear what the Musical Department has to offer.
Coming up we have our Hadestown show opening May 1st!! Buy tickets online or at the door, come see us!! Also coming up soon are auditions for Voices of Steel, starting May 5th. Happy Spring!!
