Choral Ensembles
CHORAL NIGHT! Mark your calendars for our Annual Choral Night Concert - May 23, 2024! This year, our Choral Night will feature 259 singers from 7th through 12th grade, with performances by all the GMS 7th and 8th Grade Choruses and all the vocal groups in the WMHS Choral Department! As we look ahead to Term 4, we also start to plan for end of the year performances, such as the in-school WMHS Memorial Day Ceremony and WMHS Graduation.
ALL STATE CHORUS: Hailey Allocco recently represented our department at the Massachusetts All-State Festival. She spent the day at Mechanics Hall rehearsing a challenging and rewarding program, then performed at the beautiful Symphony Hall on Saturday, March 23. The conductor this year was Wendy K. Moy, Assistant Professor of Music Education at Syracuse University. Congratulations to Hailey!!
A Cappella Groups
On March 19, Voices of Steel had the 4th graders rocking to Taylor Swift and songs from the Barbie movie with another great performance at one of their favorite concerts of the year, the All-Town 4th Grade Choral Concert. They are gearing up for a busy April, with performances for the entire WPS K-8 student body at VPAD (4/2), the North Reading Sing Fling (4/4 at NRHS) and the Belmont High School A Cappella Night (4/11 at Belmont HS).
Both Mic Drop and Voices of Steel will perform in our Spring A Cappella Night that will feature the headliner Chasing Saturn, with special guests NOTEorious and the GMS Chamber Chorus! April 9, 2024, 7:00 PM - tickets available now!!

Throughout the month of March each choir has been preparing for VPAD, which is quickly approaching. We have been working on memorization and expressing more facial emotions while singing. Congratulations to Voices Of Steel for their performance with the Wakefield 4th Grade All-Town Choir. Congratulations to Hailey Allocco and Sam Carpenter for representing WMHS at the All State Music festival this month.
