Choral Ensembles
HAPPY MID YEAR! Our school year is officially half over! We’ve made it through Winter concert season, mid-year recording exams, auditions for next year’s ensembles, and have now begun Term 3. Grades will be posted in iPass on February 4. Students and parents should contact me if they have any questions about grades.
PERFORMANCES: Thank you to everyone who attended our Winter Concert. It’s always exciting to get to perform the pieces we’ve been working on in class. Our Choral Night is scheduled for Wednesday,May 8th, with a dress rehearsal on Tuesday, April 30th.
DISTRICT FESTIVAL, JR. DISTRICT & ALL-STATE AUDITIONS: WHS students had a wonderful experience at this year’s Senior District Festival. Dr. Dan Perkins of Plymouth State University conducted the chorus. Students had the opportunity to learn challenging music and sing with new friends. We were lucky to be able to host the festival at our beautiful Galvin Middle School auditorium. Educators from around the NE District were raving about our space. Junior District auditions take place on Saturday, February 2nd, and we have several WHS students auditioning. Students who received All-State recommendations auditioned at Shrewsbury High School on January 26th, and we had five students accepted into the All-State Festival ensembles. Congratulations to Casey MacGibbon, Elisabeth Nordeen, Samantha Prosperi, and Ava Spies, who will sing in the All-State Chorus at Symphony Hall on Saturday, March 2nd.
A Cappella Groups
Thank you to those of you who attended our 8th Annual A Cappella Night! We hosted The Beatbox House, with performances by the Galvin Middle School Chamber Chorus, the Saugus Sachimes, In Big Treble, She Major, and Voices of Steel. A huge thank you to the Wakefield Music Boosters for all their help with this event!
Next Saturday, She Major & Voices of Steel will compete in the International Championship of High School A Cappella, at the Galvin Middle School! We are looking for students and parents to volunteer to help out in various ways. Email me if you are interested!
